Gandhari and Her 101 Children

The daughter of Gandhar raj (King of Gandhar) Subala named Gandhari was one of the chaotic characters of the epic Mahabharat. In these following blogs we try to understand the character. There are certain things we can learn from the character, but also few things we are not going to follow in our life. From these mistakes we can learn and can grow as a person. Then we can find our Peace of Mind i.e., also the purpose of my blog.
Gazing at the Blog title, one can question how can a woman give birth to 101 children. There were two benedictions in the Mahabharat. If you know the basic storyline of the Mahabharat, King Vichitravirya had two sons- Dhritarashtra & Pandu by different wives- Ambika & Ambalika respectively. Immediately after his marriage Vichitravirya died at the age of around sixteen because of tuberculosis. Then to save Kuru family tree Krishna Dvaipayana Veda Vyasa, son of Satyavati (mother of Vichitravirya) came. So, Vichitravirya was not the biological father of Dhritarashtra & Pandu, the great poet of the epic Mahabharat Vedvyas was. At this moment Great Bhishma thought we needed to extend The Kuru family. Here Gandhari entered into this epic.
